Huge congratulations are in order for our former Chair, Belinda Budge - who received an OBE this weekend in the King’s Birthday Honours, for services to the creative industries and publishing.

The brilliant Belinda was with us at Creative UK from the very beginning - and stepped down in March. In the five years she led our Board, Creative UK invested over £31 million in hundreds of extraordinary creative businesses, provided business support to more than 5,200 SMEs, delivered programmes in eight regions, and built an extensive network of extraordinary creatives. Belinda was particularly passionate about investment into the sector and backing creative skills - and we are so grateful to her for her years of service.

In addition to being a fierce advocate for the sector - Belinda is a creative herself, and is now working as a maker and textile designer. For over 30 years, she was a luminary of the book publishing industry, working for both The Women’s Press and Virago in the 1980s, and co-founding the start-up feminist publishing company, Scarlet Press. In 1992 she joined Harpercollins Publishers, where she worked with many talented authors and honed her love of storytelling.

Well done to Belinda Budge, OBE 🙌
